Sport for All with Alan Pascoe , Commonwealth and European hurdles champion, and Bill Slater. Director of Physical Education, University of Birmingham.
This week is Sport for All Week, during which games will be staged and sports will be demonstrated up and down the country, to try to encourage everyone to take part in some activity.
In Britain, over 60 sports are played regularly. Sports as diverse as archery, badminton, karate, gliding. bowling, polo and swimming. Perhaps, though, you didn't excel in sports at school and you are now wondering how to start and how to keep fit. So, where can you learn? What are the alternatives to team games? Is special equipment necessary? Is it expensive? What are the sports suitable for the elderly? How much time must be spent? Where can you find local information? What is a sports centre, and can anyone attend? These are just some of the questions you may like to' ask today's studio guests, both members of the Sports Council. In the Chair; Sue MacGregor
