[Photo caption] Under pressure ... Max (Robert Gwllym) is determined to show he can cope with the traumas of Casualty, but will it all prove too much?
Drama: Casualty: 8.05pm BBC1
There's a full moon over Holby and it seems the whole world has gone crazy. After an opening sequence that has a patient screaming his head off for about five minutes, we see Max returning to A&E after his compassionate leave and promptly asking Tina to marry him. That's the first example of madness. Then the team are presented with a dog that's been bitten by a poisonous snake and in a moment of madness decide to treat him, despite Patrick's exhortations to call the RSPCA or a vet. It makes the main two stories seem quite ordinary by comparison, even though one of them involves a young girl with such extreme sensitivity to light she has to wear a kind of spaceman's outfit. (JR)
