Highlights of the short programme in the pairs event, which got under way early this morning.

The young Soviet pair Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov are the European and World Champions, and could take the Olympic title at their first attempt. British interest is provided by Cheryl Peake and Andrew Naylor, and the brother and sister pairing of Neil and Lisa Cushley.

There's also action from the first of the speed skating events, the men's 500m, and a look at how the medals were decided on the 70m ski-jumping hill in the Olympic Park.
