A report by Peter Williams Doctors Are Only Human
Do we ask too much of doctors? Do they ask too much of themselves''
Britain's doctors are nearly three times more likely to commit suicide than the average citizen
They risk alcohol dependency and drug-addiction. Yet, until recently the medical profession has shrouded the problem in a ' conspiracy of silence'. As the Chief Officer of the BMA, Dr Brian Lewis says, ' I don't think any profession wants to talk about its black sheep.'
Now they reveal to PETER WILLIAMS the hidden risks of becoming a doctor and what is being done to try to lessen the danger.
