Four of the chefs from the last heat return to face a skills test set by Monica and Gregg before the judges must decide who will be eliminated. Only the best four chefs will cook for Michel Roux Jr.
In the skills test, Monica asks the chefs to make three sauces - a hollandaise, a maltaise and a mousseline - and serve them with asparagus. With a time limit of just 15 minutes, it is a tough challenge, especially for those chefs unfamiliar with all the classic sauces. They must draw on all their culinary knowledge because at the end Monica and Gregg will send one chef home.
The pressure is on the three remaining chefs as they get their chance to cook for Michelin-starred Michel Roux Jr. Michel cooks a Beaujolais berry jelly with a classic crème anglaise and French arlette biscuits. The chefs must recreate the dish for Michel, attempting to impress with their pastry skills and elegant presentation. They are then asked to prepare their own classic dish for Michel and Gregg in just one hour. The chefs must pull out all the stops to stay in the competition because after judging each plate, Michel and Gregg will send one more chef home.
The best two chefs will go through to the quarter-final and move a step closer to winning the title of Professional MasterChef. Show less
