Double Michelin starred chef Michel Roux Junior and MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace are joined by the formidable Monica Galetti, as they hunt for Britain's next culinary superstar, with the talent to reach the top.
In this show, five of the ten chefs from the previous heat return to face Monica and Gregg in a skills test before one of them is sent home. Only the best four chefs will get through to cook for Michel Roux Jr.
In the skills test, Monica and Gregg ask each chef to break down a cooked lobster and serve it with a salad. With just 10 minutes, the chefs must keep a steady hand and think quickly if they are to meet Monica's exacting standards. At the end, Monica and Gregg must decide who will be leaving the competition.
The four remaining chefs must now prove their talent to Michel Roux Jr. He cooks the French pastry classic, beignets a la crème, sweet cream filled fritters with a fruit garnish, before asking the chefs to recreate it in one hour. The pressure is on show off their pastry skills and deliver to Michel's high expectations. Then they are asked to prepare their own classic dish for Michel and Gregg in just 60 minutes. With so much at stake, there no room for error. After judging each plate on presentation and flavour Michel and Gregg will send one more chef home.
The best three chefs will go through to the quarter final and move a step closer to winning the title of Professional MasterChef. Show less
