This one-act folk opera, first produced in Budapest in 1924, was revised eight years later and staged at the Royal Hungarian Opera. It is based on the Magyar folk music which Kodaly collected and published during these years.
A conversation in May 1660

This conversation between champions of different political philosophies is imagined to have taken place in May 1660, when England was awaiting, the return of Charles 11 after his proclamation as King by both Houses of Parliament.
