Director of the French

Working under the auspices of the Department of Antiquities of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Pere de Vaux has been chiefly responsible for the excavations in the region where the Dead Sea Scrolls have been found. In his talk he gives some of the archaeological evidence that has a bearing on the dating and interpretation of the manuscripts. He refers to some of the opinions expressed recently by G. R.
