The C minor Concerto for two harpsichords and strings has been assumed by several musicologists to be Bach's transcription of a lost Concerto in D minor-which some think was for two violins and strings, and others, for oboe, violin, and strings. Tonight Bach's well-known two-harpsichord version can be heard, followed at 8.35 by Max Schneider 's conjectural reconstruction.
