10 - John Calrd 's sermon, ' Religion in Common Life,' preached before Queen Victoria at Balmoral in 1855 Read by Harry Lockwood West In her Journal, under the date October 14, 1855. Queen Victoria wrote: 'To Kirk at twelve o'clock. The Rev. J. Caird one of the most celebrated preachers in Scotland, performed the service, and electrified all present by a most admirable and beautiful sermon, which lasted nearly an hour. but which kept one's attention riveted..... It was as fine as Mr. McLeod's sermon last year and sent us home much edified

Twelve volumes of the Yale Edition (edited by W. S. Lewis ) of Horace Walpole 's Correspondence' have already been published in this country. It is probable that the edition will extend to at least fifty volumes, and it is unlikely to be completed before 1970. R. W. Ketton-Cremer, himself a biographer of Walpole. describes the plan of the edition and discusses the letters still to be published
