Sonata for Violin and Pianoforte
Jack Knapman made his first appearance as a composer in 1923 at the age of seventeen when a work for violin and piano was performed in Oxford. His latest work is the music for the ballet, Johann and Gertha, which was produced at the Princes Theatre, Bristol, in December of last year. The sonata to be broadcast this evening was written in 1934 and was chosen for the International Festival of Contemporary Arts at Bath, in 1935.
