D. Harris
An eye-witness account of the scenes and proceedings at the National
Sweet Pea Show at Bath
There must be something in the soil of the West of England to make the sweet pea flourish, and there are enthusiasts in this part of the world who contest very keenly the prizes offered at the National Sweet Pea Show.
The chief function of the National
Sweet Pea Society is to help amateurs and professionals by showing first-class specimens, and at this show new varieties will probably be exhibited for the first time. The
Society also helps gardeners to understand what are the best results to aim at. D. Harris will describe what he has seen to interest him, and he will pass on as many hints as he can pick up about growing sweet peas. Perhaps, too, he may be able to tell listeners how four and five blooms can be grown on one stem.
