On the night of Sunday, November 3, 1839, a body of over two thousand men from the mining valleys of Monmouth-shire marched upon the town of Newport to demonstrate on behalf of several Chartist leaders who had been imprisoned in Monmouth gaol. This programme attempts to dramatise the attack on the Westgate Inn , the arrest of the Chartist Leader, John Frost , and the famous trial where he, amongst others, was sentenced to death for High Treason. 
The characters will be played by members of the NEWPORT PLAYGOERS SOCIETY and the programme produced by T. ROWLAND HUGHES
