An account by G.B. Gloyne of the first day of the match between Somerset and the South Africans at Bath
G.B. Gloyne is a native of Pilton, in Somerset. He went out to the East Indies in 1912, and did not return for good until two years ago. He was President of the Batavia Cricket Club - commonly called the 'Box' - that was founded in 1846, and is still the only entirely British Club in the Dutch colonies.
