Nicolson Square Methodist Church is the mother church of Methodism in Scotland's capital. Among its former ministers were the late Rev. Dr. Dinsdale T. Young , the undisputed leader of Methodism in his lifetime. 
The present church was built in the year of Waterloo and is the third building used by this congregation. The others take the history of the church back to the days of Wesley. 
The present minister, the Rev. 
William C. Bird , who will be giving the address this evening, was formerly a missionary in Ceylon and came to Edinburgh from London two-and-a-half years ago.
