H. M. CONACHER
The diversity of the Scottish counties will be referred to by Mr. Conacher in this talk. There are such outstanding contrasts as Inverness with its great masses of mountains and valleys and sea lochs, a group of islands like Orkney and Shetland, and Lanarkshire with mining villages, iron, and steel works. He will include a short history of County and Parish Councils and School Boards between the years 1829 and 1929. The talk is intended to bring out the specific services that fall to a public authority in the counties.
