Emeritus Professor C. Sarolea who before his retirement was Professor of French in the University of Edinburgh, is one of our most distinguished living linguists. He was a close friend of the late King of the Belgians, and accompanied him on a trip to South
America. Professor Sarolea will show that although Belgium contains two races and has two languages itisone nation. He will describe the densely populated industrial area and intensive agriculture.

These fortnightly talks are complementary to the talks to farmers broadcast on Wednesdays in the National programme. Climatic and other conditions vary from those obtaining in England, and it is hoped that the new Scottish series will prove useful in its specific application to Scottish conditions.
Mr. A. D. Buchanan-Smith is a research lecturer in the University of Edinburgh and has charge of the work in the Institute of Animal Genetics which relates to the improvement of the larger farm animals, horses, cattle and pigs.
