(From Glasgow) in 1921 PROFESSOR HILLHOUSE succeeded the late Sir John Biles to the Chair of Naval Architecture, Glasgow University. He was first European Professor of Naval Architecture at Tokio Imperial University from 1898 until 1902, and since 1902 has been naval architect to the Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Co., Ltd. Professor Hillhouse is Vice-President of the Institution of Naval Architects and of the Institution of Engineers and Shipbuilders in Scotland, and represented these two institutions at the World Engineering Congress at Tokio in 1929.
