A commentary on the second half of the Rugby Union match, by Ivor G. Jones , from Headingley Rugby Union
Ground, Kirkstall, Leeds
by M. R. Betteridge , told by Lucia Rogers
This is a little village tale about a ' character '-a woman. who ' did for' people, nursed the sick, and helped with bits of paperhanging in neighbours' houses. She had to decide whether she should or should not leave a good-for-nothing husband and join a prospering son in America. Rhoda faced the possibility of leaving a hard life, but she faced also the problem of passage money, and got over that-yet it wasn't all so simple, even then.
