Roland Powell formed the old Leeds BBC Station Trio, which broadcast regularly from 1925 to 1927. He was music director of the L.M.S. hotels in England and Scotland from 1920 to 1934, when he worked jointly in that capacity with Henry Hall. He has a wide experience of orchestral work, and the players in the Rhythm Aces, the combination to be heard this evening, are a selection of some of the best instrumentalists who have worked under him.
