NATIONAL ANTHEM (Solo violin, ALBERT SAMMONS )
It was during the War that Albert Sammons came into his own as a soloist. Towards the end of 1914 he played
Elgar's Concerto under the baton of the composer, and a few weeks later he played Beethoven's Concerto ; both these events added enormously to his prestige.
Albert Sammons possesses all the essentials of a great violinist; a brilliant and faultless technique, a, rich and pure tone capable of almost infinite nuance, and a musical sensitiveness and discernment that are rare qualities in one whose taste is so catholic. He is as great a player of the classics as he is of the moderns.
