S. J. Aukland lives at Spondon, in Derbyshire, and is a native of that town. He began writing humorous dialect stories and articles in 1921, his first being published in 1921 by the Derbyshire Advertiser, for whom he also wrote a serial. He has adapted and expanded one of the episodes from this serial for his first broadcast. He writes frequently both for that paper and for the Derby Evening Telegraph. He has given a number of his dialect sketches and monologues from the concert platform.
