' To The Wrekin' by FRED T.JACKS
The Wrekin is an isolated hill on the east side of the Severn and not far from the Holyhead road. It is a typical example of an extinct volcano. The lower slopes are richly wooded, and Forest Glen is a popular resort among visitors. The country round is rich in historical interest. The Roman town of Uriconium is only a mile or two distant. To the West is Coalbrookdale, the cradle of the iron industry. Mr. Jacks, who gives the talk, has broadcast on sport. He is a Staffordshire County umpire at lawn tennis and referee at hockey.
