Snibston Colliery Band (known during part of its career as the Coalville Coronation Band) was formed nearly fifty years ago. It has been attached to the South Leicestershire Company's colliery at Snibston since 1924. The conductor works at the coal-face and almost all the members are employed at the colliery. The band have won seven first prizes, one second, and one third, and at present hold six challenge cups. Mr. Beniston is also conductor of Coalville Amateur Operatic Society.
