George Mantle-Childe has given frequent recitals in the evening programme as a pianist, and he formed the sextet whose broadcasts include many of his arrangements. Frederick Sedgwick is the son of a well-known Leeds organist, and played with the Leeds Symphony Orchestra and the Scarborough Spa Orchestra, before going to live in Birmingham. He first broadcast from the old Leeds Station in the very early days.
