Before Sir Herbert Brewer 's death five years ago his name as a conductor, either from the Gloucester Cathedral during the Three Choirs Festival, or from other parts of the West Country, was often in broadcast programmes. He was Organist of Gloucester Cathedral for over thirty years, and from the Cathedral Organ he gave a great number of recitals, both for adult audiences and for school children. The occasion of one of his broadcasts was his three-hundredth Cathedral recital. Brewer wrote a number of choral works in the larger form, most of them written for the ,Three Choirs or other
Festivals, as well as songs and smaller pieces.
