Tho principal church in Boston, in Lincolnshire, is known as the ' Boston Stump,' principally on account of its curious shape. It. has a magnificent tower standing 272ft., which is visible for miles around. It is said that at one time a light was shown in the tower as a guide for travellers. When the tide showed signs of rising and flooding the town the tower bells were rung as a warning.
