Listeners are to hear four recorded numbers by the musical-comedy star who was formally a cabaret artist in America and made an immediate hit when she first appeared on the London stage, at the London Hippodrome in 1932, as Molly Harper in Out of the Bottle. She became a film star in the same year. The items chosen for today's broadcast are ' Swing ', ' Excuse Me ', ' By the Fireside ', and ' A pretty girl is like a melody', the latter from the film The Great Ziegfeld.
