For the first time Bernard Walke and Filson Young have deserted bt. 
Hilary at Christmas time. At the Ship Inn is not a mystery play, m fact it is not really a play at all. The ' actuality ' setting is the kitchen of a Mevagissey inn, where real fishermen round the roaring fire are discussing the way of the world: old times, new times, old ways and new ways, 'the old days with a south-easterly wind and all the boats going to sea-beating and tacking— over and across from one side of the pool to the other so that a man were near wore out before he got clear of the harbour', and the present day when ' every boat in the harbour has a motor in her ' and a man can ' steer a boat with his leg, too lazy to put his hand to the tiller and the rest of the crew standing up torrard with their hands in their pockets .
