Until last year the Persian desert was for the tourist virgin. country, but in the summer holidays of 1936 Evert Barger and a party of twenty British students crossed the Dasht-i-Kavir by car. This morning Mr. Barger will describe the careful preparations necessary before the party could make the journey with enjoyments, and above all with safety. He will describe the adventures of the party during their eight-weeks' tour, and give some account of the country they passed through, and of the efforts of an Eastern people to profit from their knowledge of the West.
