The Gold Tablets of Santa Severa
The second of two talks on the Etruscans by M. 1. FINLEY
The discovery in 1964 of three gold tablets, two in Etruscan and one in Carthaginian, at Santa Severa near Rome. is a major contribution to the lively debates now going on among archaeologists and historians about the early history of Rome. Dr. Finley examines the implications of the new evidence for Roman and more generally Mediterranean history.
