The carnival of Christmas is followed in theory-sometimes even in practice-by the calm of Boxing Day. The whole idea of carnival is occasional climax-you can' always be crowning your individuality with a paper hat. Afterwards should come relaxation into unity with a less hectic world: that of the folk tale, where stones and trees come to the help of a hero, and a common language is spoken by the druid and the wren.
