The earth is being bombarded continually by cosmic rays of very great energy, some of which produce showers of particles in the atmosphere. The speakers describe a large inter-university experiment which they are to carry out at Haverah Park, near Harrogate. They will study the largest showers and the origin of the cosmic rays which produce them.
