THE DRIFTING LIFE
OF THE SEA by R. S. Glover
Oceanographic Laboratory Edinburgh
Every month merchant ships of six nations, while on their normal voyages, tow continuous recorders through the waters of the North Sea and across the Atlantic Ocean. From these recorders, scientists get information about the drifting plants and animals that are the basis of the vast food resources of the seas. This information is needed now to plan against the day when world food supplies may become a serious limiting factor to prosperity and even to survival.
