Dr. Campbell explores, with Joseph Trenaman , the banks, ditches, and hedges on a roadside near Woodstock in Oxfordshire. He describes the flowering plants and nesting birds, and shows how the verge becomes a refuge for the rich variety of species compared with the few in the cultivated fields nearby.
