DAN GODFREY. Haydn wrote 14 piano concertos with orchestral accompaniments. All of these were burnt during his lifetime, without, as far as can be supposed, having ever been played. Of them all, the separate orchestral sheets of this one Concerto in D alone were saved. A score was made up from these in 1875, after which the concerto received what is believed to be its first performance in 1879, in Berlin, and has only recently been revived by Miss Ada St. John Wright.
