A Country Programme
Relayed from Fairview, Ballyclare
(By permission of Alexander Ross )
Tonight listeners are to join a Christmas Party at an Irish country house, where the country people have gathered to enjoy themselves, and to receive a visit from the traditional Christmas Rhymers ', a band of youths who tour the countryside collecting money for charity. The origin of the little play they present is lost in the history of the Province. It bears a strong resemblance to similar customs in other parts of the British Isles, and can claim cousinship, at least, with the English ' Pace Egg' play which was broadcast last Easter.
