Selection of Henry Bishop's Songs SIR HENRY BISHOP, 1786 to 1855, was a considerable figure in the world of opera in his day. He composed a number of operas, more or less original,.but adapted, and it must be confessed distorted, a number of European operas which he gave at Covent Garden Theatre, of which he was for some time Director of Music. Bishop was one of the original founders of the Royal Philharmonic Society. ORCHESTRA Selection of Francesco Tosti's Songs
FRANCESCO PAOLO TOSTI was a favourite song writer and teacher of singing late in the nineteenth century. He was much at Court both in Italy and England as a teacher of singing to the Royal families. He was knighted in 1908 and died in 1916, leaving behind him a great number of melodious songs that had far greater merit than much contempory ballad-writing of his time.
