A mixture of music and musicians with Sheila Tracy
Sheila Tracy in Melody Fare
Disc jockeys come in all shapes and sizes and from many unexpected quarters. But there can be few who can chalk up quite such a list of surprising accomplishments as petite and redheaded Sheila Tracy, who introduces thirty minutes of Melody Fare each Thursday. She is a former musician whose face became known to millions when she worked as a BBC-tv announcer. Away from the cameras she stepped into quite a different role - as a part-time policewoman. No spectacular Z Cars stuff - just a 'voluntary unpaid special constable' - and she has been pounding the beat for over two years now. She is also an accomplished trombonist and once toured in a sisters' act. In Melody Fare she will play records, and interview two double-bass Players - Edmund Chesterman (classical), and Johnny Hawkesworth (pop).
