Tom Fleming in I Escaped as a Red Cross parcel
Written by Stephen Grenfell
Produced by Aian Burgess
One morning in August 1944, prisoner-of-war Andrew McGlone looked iongingly at a party of Allied soldiers assembling with their kit in the middle of a German P.O.W. camp. Their papers were stamped and sealed; they were about to be repatriated, because of ill health, to their various countries. It was then that the idea struck Andrew. He would try to use this opportunity to escape.
