For the past four months, the two halves of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition have been established on either side of the continent.
They are now in regular radio communication, and this programme is devoted mainly to the New Zealand half of the Expedition wintering on Ross Island under the leadership of Sir Edmund Hillary. It tells of their recent dog journeys on to the Polar plateau from Scott Base, and explains their part in the coming pincer movement on the Pole.
