Tristan, which lies in the middle of the South Atlantic, is to be visited early next year by the Duke of Edinburgh aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia. Only 250 people live on Tristan and until recently they used no money, bartering vegetables and meat for flour, nails, and clothing from passing ships.
