Green Fields in the Desert
In Israel parts of the barren desert have been brought under cultivation by pioneers working and living together in special farming settlements called Kibutzim. Here they live a communal life denying all personal belongings. Rina Welan , who spent a holiday in Israel some months ago, recalls her visit to a Kibutz at Ain Zurim, helped by on-the-spot recordings made by courtesy of the Israel Broadcasting Service.
