One of the most colourful figures in the theatre today is Jack Hylton. He is equally at home presenting the Crazy Gang or the London Philharmonic Orchestra; an American musical comedy or Ingrid Bergman in a highbrow opera by Honegger. The impresario of today was the band leader of yesterday and this programme tells his story from his humble beginnings in Bolton, through the furore of Jack Hylton and his Band, to his first essay in management with the stage presentation of the BBC's 'Band Waggon.'
