Mrs. Leathers and Margie were evicted and Mrs. Date let them have the room over the garage. Dr. Dale was annoyed at first, but finally relented and allowed them to stay. David gave Gwen a brooch for a birthday present. The opening of Sally's new enterprise, ' Stephanie,' was a great success. Bob passed his exam and went up to Scotland to stay with Grandfather Dale ; Angus Moray and Joan Dale revealed that they had been secretly engaged for some time; Grandfather was delighted until he discovered that they intended to leave King's Acre and run their own farm.

The Mars fleet, still out of radio contact with Earth, detect an object on the radar and televiewer screens which proves to be the missing Freighter Ship No. 6. Jet Morgan is determined to find out why the Freighter left the fleet and slows down the Discovery until it is coasting alongside the wayward craft. Receiving no response to his numerous radio calls, Jet then decides to leave the flagship and try to enter No. 6.
