During the past four weeks, in celebrating the Christmas season, we have introduced our under-fives to a considerable body of new material, both in story and song, at a much greater pace than is our usual custom. This week, therefore, after so much novelty, we are relaxing into the comfort of the familiar. There is only one new story, 'The Fairy's Home,' by Nesta Nuttall which can be heard on Wednesday. The rest are old favourites, long-remembered and greatly in demand - on Thursday, Diana Ross' story of the five little boys who made a house (hammer, hammer, hammer, bang, bang, bang!) and on the remaining days, three stories by Joan E. Cass. These will be the two tales about Shirley and her kittens, Blackie and Snowball, and the one about Timothy who had a threepenny bit to buy a sugary bun and who went 'splish, splash, splosh' through the puddles. We heard of one little girl who joyfully did likewise in her best shoes, so we have taken the precaution this time of pointing out to our listeners that Timothy could not have done it had he not been wearing his rubber boots!
