Mr. Murdock's full name is Stanley
-Livingstone Murdock. He was born in Belfast sixty years ago and his Christian names echo the headlines of those days. At sixteen he tried to get aboard a Merchant Navy training ship, but there was no vacancy so he went instead to an old-fashioned Civil Service ' grinder's.' One of his earliest posts was in Dublin, and apart from war service in the Navy, he remained there till 1924. Then came his transfer to London, and to the Paymaster General's office, where he still works today, as an Executive Officer concerned with the payment of civil and military pensions
