The Missions to Seamen, familiarly known to seafarers as the Flying Angel, was founded in 1856: now it has institutes and hostels throughout the world and workers in more than eighty ports. Around the coasts of the British Isles, the coasts of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South America, and the West Indies, Africa, the Middle East and the Far East, from Ceylon and India to Japan, chaplains and lay workers offer a real Christian welcome to seafarers of all nationalities, races, and creeds.
