At the age of fifteen Meg Brooks invented a poltergeist, more by accident than design. She had no desire for traffic with the supernatural. She hit upon the idea to distract a friend of her father's, an aged and shy stamp collector, whose habit it was to drop in unexpectedly for tea. Her poltergeist produced some unexpected phenomena.
