Beethoven's Overture, ' Prometheus,' is the prelude to a ballet, the music of which Beethoven composed for a famous ballet master and choreographer in Vienna named Vigano. The scenario supplied to Beethoven was an innocuous version of the classic myth, for Prometheus is here represented not as stealing fire from the heavens, but as bringing his statues to life with the aid of dancing, drama, . and music
